Blu-ray video is unwatchable.  Video studders and major color blocking on almost ever scene change.  Using anydvd/hd to rip the bd to hard disk.  System is an i3 540 clarksdale. 4 gig of memory.  HDMI to pre/pro.  Seems like some type of timing issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

Try disabling hardware acceleration.

Try setting video to Red October Standard.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I first tried going from Red October HQ to Red October Standard and then disabled hardware acceleration with no help.  I used to be able to play these bd's on I think it was MC17.  So I know this should work.  I should mention that this is a system rebuild in that it has a new "C" drive and freshly loaded windows 7 64 bit

UPDATE:

I made those two changes while pausing play, make the change and resume play.  It did not change the outcome.  I then left the changes in place and performed a reboot.  The issue is resolved as of right now.  I was under the impression that changes could be made while the video is paused and they would take affect on resume play.  I guess I was wrong.  Will watch the rest of the movie and another that was performing in the same manner to be sure.  Thanks for the excellent suggestions.

You have to stop playback for those changes to take effect. It should not be necessary to restart Media Center.
I'm almost certain that it will have been the hardware acceleration causing it.
 
Hardware accelerated decoding uses lower power consumption, but the cost is that it is more prone to decoding errors.
 
My Casino Royale Blu-ray disc shows similar errors when quickly seeking through it with hardware acceleration enabled on my GTX970, though I haven't seen it during normal playback, and it wasn't an issue on my old GTX570.

I only did a reboot out of frustration because the way I thought it should work was wrong.  Makes sense to just stop play and restart and not pause and then play like was stuck in my pea brain.  I will turn Red October HQ back on later this evening to see if it was just hardware acceleration.  Either way it's playing smooth now.  Which begs the question: is there a discernible difference between  R O standard and R O HQ?

ROHQ uses madVR for its video renderer, which enables high quality image scaling, processing, and generally does a better job presenting video to the display (stutter-free playback) though it requires you to have a powerful GPU to take advantage of many of these features.
 
There's nothing wrong with ROStd. if it works for you.

Well I had a few minutes to check out Red October standard and HQ .  No color blocking on either but I guess the i3 clarksdale is not powerful enough for HQ.   The video is not smooth.  Any motion seems to studder or something.  But, all is good with Red October standard nice and smooth.  Thanks guys for your help.
