8.0.193 crashes in 2 ways
« on: January 29, 2002, 05:55:41 pm »

Problem 1:   If I select the "burn CD" icon, the pop-up menu to select audio or data comes up.  Upon pressing "OK", the app crashes.  No error message, just disappears.

Problem 2:   To play a CD, If I go under the main menu and select "devices", everything works perfectly, I can play the CD from here.  However if I select the actual drive letter the CD is in (in this case drive E: ), the app crashes as before.  It does not make a difference if there is a CD in the drive or not, it still crahes

All of my other burning software works flawlessly: EZ CD creator,CDR Win, MMJB(sorry Next Page), and even Windows built in burning.  The ASPI layer is correct.  It does not seem to matter what options are selected in the settings/options selections.  MJ does detect the writer.

Athlon 1GHz
512 MB PC 2100 ram
WIN XP
HP 9150 burner

I hope I can get these issues resolved (at least problem 1), so that I can uninstall my other jukebox software (I won't say the name again), your product is FAR superior.  Thanks in advance.

Win98SE
PIII/450
Sony CRX140E CD-R/W

Unfortunately, that thread didn't help, me CDRW drive is on the secondary IDE cable and it is the only CD device on my system.  I do have 2 "virtual" CD drives and I can select those with no problems.  Is anyone else using the HP 9100 series drive?

Investigating further ( I really want this to work correctly), I ran this program while using FileMon.  The last thing the app accesses before it crahes in both instances is the "CDManager.dll".  I don't know if this is helpful to anyone or not...

I know you said that your ASPI layer is correct, but try this anyway.

Download this file : ftp://ftp.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll and copy it into Windows\System32.

This has fixed problems for several people that already had an older version of this file. It's worth a shot. Next Page

You may want to back up the old one just in case, though.

The only other thing I can think of is to maybe try removing wnaspi32.dll from system32 and see if that has any effect.

Removing it doesn't work, although I don't think I would like to remove it everytime I wanted to run the app anyway.  Could this have anything to do with other burning software I have installed?  I have EZ CD Creator, CloneCD, and CDRWin on my system.  Any thoughts on the CDManager.dll file I mentioned before?  I would like to get this problem solved, although I guess I could use other software for burning, I still like MJ for playing files....
