Episodes off by one when I run "Get movie and TV info"
« on: November 13, 2014, 04:22:05 pm »

Hi,

When I run "Get movie and TV info" all the info is filled in, but somehow episode 1 gets the info for episode 2, episode 2 gets the info for episode 3, etc...

I searched the forum but couldn't find anything about this happening. Is there something obvious I could be doing wrong?

Thanks very much in advance!

I don't know if it is related to your problem but the XMLTV file format specifies that the season and episode, when encoded as "xmltv_ns", be indexed from 0.
So season 2 episode 12 would become  <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">1.11.</episode-num>

Hi Rudy,

thank you very much for your help!

Even though I have to admit that I don't completely understand everything you said, I think what you're talking about is not the same issue I'm experiencing.

Maybe I should give some more details?

First of all, this is happening in multiple series I'm trying to add to the library (I cannot confirm that it's happening to every single one, but definitely multiple ones)

Using Charlie's Angels (Season 1, 23 episodes) as an example;

The filenames are: Charlie's Angels.S01E01.mkv to Charlie's Angels.S01E23.mkv

Using MC 20 I've "Removed Tags" and "Cleaned file properties"

The folder they're in is empty, apart from the 23 episode MKV's.

I select all and run "Get movie and TV info"

Charlie's Angels.S01E01.mkv which had an empty "Name" tag now has "name": Hellride (Which is actually episode 2, not 1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Charlie%27s_Angels_episodes)

Charlie's Angels.S01E02.mkv got "Name": The Mexican Connection (Which is actually episode 3)

Charlie's Angels.S01E23.mkv got "Name": Charlie's Angels S1e23

I hope this helps... Thanks in advance again!

JRiver is primarily pulling the data from TVdB. com.  Here's the listing for the first season of Charlie's Angels : http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=77170&seasonid=12288

You can see that they started the numbering with the second episode because the pilot is a "special," probably because it was aired more than six months before the rest of the first season.  I would try entering S1E0 in the file name for the pilot, that should pull the info.  I always check out the tvdb entries before getting the info just to make sure the editors over at tvdb haven't done anything wacky like that.

Most of mine that I find are off like this are because of exactly that: double-episodes (either in thetvdb.com as one and the guide metadata has them listed as two, or the reverse).

Sorry, I do have 2 questions remaining...

I manually renumbered all the file names to start from 0 and ran "Get movie and TV info" again... After then manually renumbering all the episodes in MC everything is fine, except for the first episode/pilot, which still has none of the info.

1. Isn't there an easier way of/to renumber(ing) all the file names and episode numbers (manually), and
2. Is there any way of pulling the info for the Pilot/|Episode 1 from TVdB.com without also having to do that manually (I tried putting Charlie's Angels Special or Pilot) the search box when running "Get movie and TV info", but that didn't work. They do have that info though: http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=episode&seriesid=77170&seasonid=24627&id=351190

Again; Thanks very much in advance!

If S1E0 didn't work, try S0E1; sometimes all the specials are lumped together in season "zero": http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=77170&seasonid=24627&lid=7

There's no need to do the renumbering at all, in most cases.  You can select a single file and insert whatever search you want in the box.  They only have to have the "correct" metadata to do multiple episodes at a time.  When you do a single episode, you want your search to result in that episode (so you have to include the Season and Episode number in your search).  You can't just search for the series name.

If an entire season is off, then you might need to re-number the subsequent ones.

1. Isn't there an easier way of/to renumber(ing) all the file names and episode numbers (manually), and

Yes.
