Track order is wrong
« on: December 16, 2014, 09:47:28 pm »

I have loaded 11 000 songs all WAV originally ripped onto my windows 7 pc.
I have figured out how to make my library perfect only having to change the Various Artists Albums to Various Artist in the Artist Tag.
My final issue is that every album while I am in the Artist tab of Library is displayed with the songs out of order.
I can see how to sort within a specific album the view by proper track number but this sorting does not hold when I come out of this view.
Also because I have so many songs/Albums I was hoping there is a way to Globally sort songs by their original track number in all views.............wouldn't this make sense and why does it not do that by default??  Thanks for any help.

+1, I can't find a way to play an album in the correct order. What is going on? I am loading the tracks manually via a file manager as I have given up on PMW as it won't recognise the exFAT file system on my main PC when using Windows 7 (even though it allegedly should). I'm now using Linux to transfer files, but they don't show up correctly, even though the file names are all in track number sequence (01_<track name>.flac etc.). Everything shows up fine in order when you list the directory from Linux.

PMW is probably using the 'Track #' field info, rather than anything in the file name, when ordering tracks. Do the track numbers appear in that field? If not, you'll probably have to edit each track to add it.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your comment, the track numbers are indeed populated. Here are the details from track 1 & 5 from an album. On the Pono, 5 is the first track to be seen on the album and 1 is the very last. I changed the update dates to be in sequence, deleted the db, but it didn't make any difference either.

I can't see anything here that could cause this. Does anyone know of other tags / things that I might be missing?

Thanks,
M.

Ah got it! Track should be TrackNumber. The resampling utility that I wrote with a friend had the tag wrong.
