Unable to update cover art into external library
« on: December 24, 2014, 07:28:18 am »

hi,

i am a newbie in using jriver,
i am not able to update some album covers that are missing in my music library,
i use jriver as a dlna controller (previously i was using foobar) with a minim server running on a synology ds213j and a sotm sms100 dlna renderer,
jriver discovers the minim library and is able to play/show albums/artist thru the dlna renderer,
but when i modify an album cover i can see that it is changed correctly, but i am unable to make it permanently modified,
so if i shut down the PC running jriver, and restart it then jriver looses the modification made to the album cover,
i set in Options->File Location->Covert Art->Audio mode:In the same folder as the file (as Folder.jpg)
the button "Also store the image in the file 's tag" is checked,
when i right-click on the image in the album pane, and select "Covert Art->Save Covert Art in External location specified in options" either i get an error or sometimes it silently ends up with no effect at all,
when i right-click on the image in the album pane, and select "Locate->On disk (external)" i get "The file http://<IP_@_of_synology_ds213j>:<Port=9790>/minimserver/<music_directory>/Artist/Album/<name_of_track>.flac not found",
please note that music_directory is mounted on the PC and is not local,

thank you in advance for your help,

Cheers
Mulio  ;)

Welcome to the forum.  You will need to change the files on the server itself.  You could probably do that by connecting to it as a drive (not with DLNA) and then importing the files into MC.

thank you Jim,

does "importing" the files into MC means that minim server will no longer be the music server and thus will be replaced by MC ?

how can i keep the way i do play the music today, i.e. keep playing the music away from the PC, MC is just a ... controller in fact...

happy end of year!
