Using MC20.0.62.  I have imported my music database with "Analyze audio for audio files" set.  It gets up to a certain point, say "101 of 125", something like that, then just stops. I am assuming it is having trouble analyzing a file. The questions:

1. Why is it doing this?
2. Is it a particular file that is causing it to halt?
3. How do I identify that file?

When I hit stop, it does nothing.  Just stays in that "analyzing 101 of 125" position and blocks me from going back into import.

Is it best for me to import without "Analyze audio"?

similar thing was happening to me, it turned out I had included some files which were not music files to be analysed , it was getting stuck at that file.
Now adays, I organize my files by "Type" and make sure I only choose playable files before I hit analyse.

What kind of files are you analyzing in your library? MP3? FLAC? Other?

I have a little bit of everything. Mainly Apple lossless, but there are some FLAC, MP3, DSD, AIFF.

You can create a Smart List with the following Custom rule:

[=isequal(AudioAnalysisState(), Needed, 1)]=1

That will show you all files that still need analysis. You can then manually run it on those files, which should give you the info on which it gets "stuck".
If possible at all, sharing that file with us (per mail or dropbox to hendrik at jriver dot com) would allow me to fix it =)

That formula did it.  What was causing the problem turned out to be a number of audio books, which I never use in JRiver anyway!  So, I moved them to a separate folder (outside the one containing all my music). Audio analysis ran through quickly after that.
