Burning audio CD - problems with track change
« on: January 29, 2015, 04:28:36 am »

I am in the process of upgrading to Media Center 20 (am in the middle of my evaluation period at the moment).  Today I noticed that when I burn an audio CD consisting of 14 shortish songs, Media Center somehow goes off-sync in the end of the list and puts the track change position to the end of the previous song.  This manifests so that when I choose track 12, for example, my CD player plays roughly 2-5 seconds of the previous track first, then does a long pause before it starts track 12.

Very annoying.  I tested with two separate CD players, both showed the same symptom.
How to fix this?

I just burned 5 CD's and three of them showed this symptom.  Every time the "out of sync" happened in the last tracks of the CD.  Weird.

I can't reproduce the problem.  Are you creating an Audio CD or a data (mp3) CD?  If audio, are you using "Apply cross-fade and DSP effects" in the options?

If you're testing playback with Media Center, make sure it's not an issue at playback time rather than burn time and set your playback settings like these and try playing various tracks again:

What file format are the files that you're burning?

File format: MP3
CD format: Audio CD
Playback device: two different separate CD players (not computers, not MC)
Crossfade and DSP effects applied, exactly as you suggested (I use Standard gapped 3s)

The only difference is I did not have the "do not play silence..." and "use gapless..." checked.

Could you try disabling the Cross-fade and DSP effects and see if the problem still occurs?  I'm just trying to narrow down the possible causes.   Thanks.
