PEQ and Q...or Bandwidth...
« on: March 16, 2015, 06:19:43 pm »

I normally see PEQ settings as Q OR Bandwidth, where bandwidth is a measurement of Octaves, and Q is a measurement...well it's not octaves :)

So, normall, when you enter a low q, it equals a wide bandwidth.

In the JRiver PEQ, it is labeled as "Bandwidth (Q)"...so which is it, bandwidth, or Q?

It's Q:  in PEQ low Q is more octaves, high Q is fewer octaves.

You can use this calculator to convert to octaves: http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-bandwidth.htm

I can work with either, just wanted to verify that it was in fact 'Q'...also, it seems inaccurate to call it bandwidth.
