Pono Player APE compatability

I just ordered a Pono Player and J River involvement influenced in my decision. Will I have to convert my APE files to FLAC before the Pono will play them?

MC can convert on-the-fly, so you shouldn't have to do anything. Test a few before you do a big transfer.

I was planning to purchase JRiver Music Center for my Pono Player until they get the Pono Vault software working better.
I now am having trouble with JRiver also.
I have to figure out how to handle my files.
Now all the CD's I rip, seem to be ripped in under APE and they should be FLAC.
There must be a setting i need to update so that these are converted automatically.
I originally had 100's and still have 100's of CD's of full albums which I ripped into ITunes and when it moved the music to PMW it all got dummied down to MP3 quality...
I was reripping many CD's and then deleting the lower quality -but i am not sure the best way to handle this now. Any ideas will help Thanks

APE is lossless, just like FLAC, but if you want to rip to FLAC, take a look at the options for ripping.

Thanks... I have been trying some things but did as you suggested and changed the setting so now all the CD's I rip will go in as FLAC. MOving it to my Pono Player in APE wasn't working right.
