Missing Thumbnails on external drive

Since upgrading from MC18 to MC20. The Thumbnails for image files that are stored on an external drive are missing. They also do not re-build while browsing. I can't see how to rebuild them either - the option to rebuild thumbnails seems to be for audio files only.
Any advice on how I can rebuild thumbnails, or switch on thumbnail building during browsing on the external drive?

For anyone who found this post through searching a similar issue.
I found the solution be to select the images. Right click \Library Tools\Update Library (From Tags)
This rebuilds the thumbnails.
