It has been happening for the last 2 weeks never had a problem before. Updates have been done, checked setups, nothing seems to help. It just stops playing and locks up. I can not force quit or even shut down the computer. I am streaming from a NAS and it happens on both FLAC and WAV and 16/44.1 and 24/96 files.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

That sounds like the OS  is broken, or you have a hardware problem.  MC should not be able to cause the OS to lock up in such a way that you can't end MC, or restart the OS.
