Access Key
« on: May 06, 2015, 07:40:57 pm »

I'm lost. I purchased and downloaded the JRiver app to my iPad and am trying to set it up. I'm adding a new server and it recommends connecting with an access key. Where do I find the access key? The prompt says to look in Tools --> Options --> Media Network. Where is that? I don't see anything marked Tools in the JRiver app and I don't have a JRiver entry in my iPad settings.

Google JRiver Access Key.  You'll end up on our wiki.

I looked there but it didn't help. Where is the Tools menu on my iPad? Is it a JRiver menu option? Or some other menu on the iPad?

The Tools menu is in MC, not in JRemote.

I think I see the problem. Is this app supposed to work with a Media Center program? I was led to believe it controlled iTunes like the Remote app does. Is that not the case?

I don't have the Media Center. If I can't use this app on iTunes, how can I get my money back for the app?

It works with Media Center, not with iTunes.  A trial version can be downloaded from a link at the top of this page.

This isn't what I wanted then. I don't know anything about the Media Center, I only wanted a better remote app for iTunes than Apple's "Remote." If I can't use JRemote to control iTunes, I don't need it and can't use it. How can I get a refund?

Hello? Does anyone know how I can get a refund for the app I can't use? I don't have the Media Center so this app is useless to me. Had I known this I never would have purchased it (which I did tonight). Does anyone know how I can get a refund? Will I really be out $10 on an app I simply can't use?

Unfortunately I believe there's a no refunds policy with JRemote as there is one with JRiver Media Center. In the future I HIGHLY suggest reading the description of the app before purchasing - it clearly says JRemote is a full featured native iOS remote for JRiver Media Center. JRemote was developed to offer you full remote control of your JRiver Media Center from any of your iDevices.

ActorCam, why not turn a negative into a positive?

How about you take up the 30 day trial evaluation period for Media Center proper and see how well it works with JRemote?

I've never used iTunes but there are plenty of converts away from iTunes in favour of MC around here. There must be something that JRiver is doing right for that to be the case.

I expect you'll be glad you gave it a go. All the best regardless ..  ;)

Unfortunately I believe there's a no refunds policy with JRemote as there is one with JRiver Media Center.

I don't know if JRiver has a policy, but I know how the App Store works.  Refunds and returns are always handled by the retailer, and that is not JRiver in this case, but Apple. If you buy some All Clad pans from William Sonoma, you don't call All Clad and ask for your money back.  They didn't sell you the pans. You have to go back to the store. Same thing here. JRiver can't give you your money back, even if they wanted to, because they don't have your money, nor do they have access to your App Store account.

Apple does.

I do also agree that the App Store description couldn't have been more clear. In any case, I do also agree with this:

Media Center is better than iTunes in basically every conceivable way. Since you now have a $10 useless app, you might as well at least try the free trial of MC.  If you don't like it, you're no worse off than you were before.

Setting aside the morph of this string into itunes and mistakes, I still can't find a JRiver Library Server access key so that I can test drive Gizmo as a remote on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Help?
