Audio quality streaming to device [OK now]
« on: August 16, 2015, 10:54:03 pm »

Hi.

MC set to highest stream out quality.

LTE > HOME > GOOD WAN > LTE > ANDROID > HEADPHONE OUT > CAR STEREO = Sounds like AM radio :(

LTE > SPOTIFY PREM ANDRPOID > HEADPHONE OUT > CAR STEROE = excellent (my ears can't tell a diff from CDA.)

What could the issue be and is there any way to debug? There is no high latency or packet loss that I can see (simple long ping run) from LTE <> HOME WAN

Thanks!

What app are you using?  JRemote?  Gizmo?

Sorry for the delay. I'm using Gizmo w/Android. So I assume then that this is known not to be ideal for streaming and that I should pay for JRemote?

Gizmo or JRemote will be the same.

It's hard to understand what your setup is.  Could you add more details?

The conversion takes place on the server so that is where you set the file type you want.

I have JRiver MC sitting at home with my library and music files. I have great WAN connection (100mbit down, 8 up.)

I go to visit a friend hookup the my android phone to their line in and PLAY HERE from my home server. This is over their WiFi OR LTE.

I thought there might be a known reason and if not I'm guessing I didn't test enough.... I will test more and verify if this is indeed a probles!

Thanks!

In Gizmo's settings, you can select the audio quality you want.

Thanks guys. Further A/B testing = same audio quality = post is a non issue :)  Must have been something weird going on at the time because I've not been able to reproduce. Can someone tell me this though... IF there is a latency/packet loss happening do the codec(s) automatically drop bitrate to try and compensate?
