Recommended settings for USR modems

AT&C1
AT&D2
AT&H1
AT&I1
AT&R2
AT&W0

These commands should set up the modem for optimal behavior with
offsite set to 115,200 baud and RTS/CTS protocol.

The first fixes the baud rate between the modem and offsite.
The second makes the modem pay attention to carrier detect.
The third allows the toggle DTR hangup to work
The forth sets transmit flow control to hardware (cts)
The fifth disables software flow control
The sixth sets receive flow control to hardware (rts)
The final command saves out the changes to the modems non-volatile ram so it's supposedly there next time you use it. (NOTE: it's AT&W0 zero, not the letter Oh)

If you don't want to change the modems default settings you SHOULD be able to achieve the same results by editing the modem init string in the autodialer:

AT&B1&C1&D2&H1&I1&R2

If you want to reset the modem to it's default configuration for some
reason (and wipe out these changes) do:

AT&F0
AT&W0
