CD Ripping with JRiver is amazing
« on: July 19, 2015, 11:40:05 pm »

I often go the library to rip some old CDs and they are usually in pretty bad shape..I've been using dbpoweramp thinking it was the way to go with accuraterip and secure settings but everytime I've benchmarked it with JRiver guess who was the winner hands-down?  Congrats JRiver!!  I'll still use dbpoweramp though for itunesnorm volume levelling..

Secure ripping is always going to be slower, because it ensures that the rip is a 1:1 copy of what's on the disc.
Are you using Secure Ripping with MC? If it's going considerably faster than dBpoweramp, that suggests it is not enabled.

Using secure ripping, in my opinion, is an absolute must if you're dealing with CDs in pretty bad shape.

Of course I am. But even after tweaking dbpoweramp I find JRiver gives me better results on a bad CD, (both using secure settings).  I do like dBpoweramp's accurate rip though, it makes rips a lot faster if the CD is in good shape.

I found a ton of CD's at my job that were about to be tossed in a landfill, they where some awesome disc and I could not pass up. I took them home and started to rip using JRmc, Prince, Sting, and a few obscure albums!

That was a few months ago, I decided to play a few of the found rips but was surprised on how bad they coppied into my hard drive!

Is there a feature keep the integrity of these disc some what intact? I gave a bunch of the disc away to s few pals, so it would have to be after I ripped them, if that is even possible?

Thanks

If you ripped them to any lossless format, then they are copies of the audio that was on the disc.

How are you judging quality?  Maybe your audio isn't set up well.
