« on: January 26, 2004, 04:36:08 pm »

Media Center 10.0.48 beta is available.

This is a beta.  Avoid this if problems, changes, or crashes will upset you.  Do NOT try this if you aren't prepared for trouble.

Please keep a list of issues you find and report them with each build until we have addressed them.

The latest known stable version of 9.1 is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

Please check the license and price thread before you download:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=17336

The latest beta of 10 is here:
[build was pulled for further work -- JimH]
PLEASE NOTE -- This build may not work correctly with handheld players that are not set to use WMDM -- the iPod, for example.  Please wait a few builds for this.

10.0.48 (1/26/04)

1. Fixed: Non-silent license acquisition for WMA streams could crash MC.
2. Fixed: Photo Printing Wizard would not work on Win9x / ME systems.
3. Fixed: With WMDM support enabled, potential existed for repetitive initiation of flash drives.
4. Changed: Several tweaks and improvements to Z skin.
5. Fixed: In rare cases, MC could crash when cross-fading between two slow streams or when under high system loads.
6. Fixed: Shuffle and Continuous menu items didn't properly show check marks.
7. Fixed: 'Show All Fields' Tag Info option was not being remembered.
8. Fixed: When not in 'All' Media Mode, the library root item could be erased.
9. Fixed: Play button (space bar) didn't work in Hairstyle's Playing Now.
10. Fixed: Home and End didn't always work properly when viewing image slideshows.
11. Changed: Revised play button logic in Hairstyle so it only plays all visible when in file mode.
12. Fixed: Hairstyle would show the wrong root images when root items were removed.
13. Fixed: CD burner would hang on files that no longer existed on disk but were in the database.
14. Fixed: Couldn't delete files from the burn queue for an audio burn.
15. Fixed: Wrong columns shown in some CD burn/rip scenarios.

10.0.44 - 10.0.47

Not release to the public.

10.0.43 (1/22/04)

1. Changed: Added 'Close Display' menu command when display is not internal.
2. Changed: Action Window tools button on left instead of right.
3. Fixed: Duplicate type searches would remove track sequence #, causing problems in Playing Now and playlists.
4. Fixed: MC behaves more logically when a user search shows files in the Playing Now view that aren't currently in 'Playing Now'.
5. Changed: Tuned tree auto-expand logic to collapse items that were auto-expanded when selecting a new item.

7. Changed: Media Center no longer always shows tray icon. (introduced 10.0.42)
8. NEW: WMDM Devices will auto detect on connection and removal.
9. Fixed: In web views, some keystrokes weren't properly translated. (backspace would erase two letters, etc.)

10.0.42 (1/21/04)

1. Fixed: Creating a smartlist from the Action Window would show a "Drag files here" window that didn't do anything.
2. NEW: Smartlist searches are shown in a separate, full length search bar.
3. Changed: Search bar width about 50% wider.
4. Changed: Added 'Close' button to fullscreen and windowed top control bar.
5. Changed: Display control bars have button tooltips.
6. Changed: Display control bars don't dissappear as fast in full screen mode when the mouse is over one of the bars.
7. Changed: Removed confirmation from the end of the Photo Printing Wizard.
8. NEW: Print Wizard remembers printer and user settings between sessions.
9. Fixed: Skin Effects dialog could cause crashes on some systems.
10. Fixed: Player buttons could get fired on mouse up when finishing dragging the volume or position slider.
11. Fixed: View scheme groupings work more logically with the sorting option "Ignore articles" turned on.
12. Fixed: Media Modes would not work properly if too much tree customization was done. (now creates scheme groups when necessary)
13. Fixed: Media Center would be 'Always on Top' on some machines. (maybe fixed -- please let us know)
14. Changed: Media Center always shows tray icon. ('Minimize to System Tray' option changes how MC minimizes)
15. Changed: Tray icon toggles Media Center's visibility. (instead of show only)
16. Fixed: When MC updated it could lose the scroll position, selection, etc. when it shouldn't have. (affects several areas)
17. NEW: MC shows a "Loading page..." message when loading a webpage view.
18. Changed: The way the tree is constucted for Portable Devices. Currently this only works for WMDM devices.

Bugs:
1. Download Manager (DM) downloads to the wrong directory!!  DM always downloads files to one directory up from the one configured.

2. Doing Ctrl-V in DM to paste a URL from the clipboard causes DM to put the URL in the download list twice...causing the 2nd attempt to always get an error (file already exists dialog).

3. The Auto Expand Tree option does not work if you click on a Favorites location.  You are placed on the folder the favorites points to, but no Auto Expand.  If you navigate to the folder manually (My Computer location), Auto Expand does work.

Speaking of the Download Manager, even though Disable Browser Integration shows as selected in Settings, it seems to reintegrate itself into IEs right-click menu every time I install a new version of MC. I have to start and exit the DM to get it to go away.

Old problem that won't go away:
DVD won't play. The first 4 seconds plays fine, then it stops.

The last few builds I've been having problems doing IMPORTS of Large Directory structures ... (ie, 15,000 files in Artist/Album directory structure)

I have found no work-around.  OH, and when it "locks up" the processor maxes out at 100% ...

UPDATE:  If I watch the import really closely (before it all goes white and locks up) .. I can see the directory that fails .. so I deleted the individual files in those directories ... and all went well .. so it is caused by a problem in a particular file.   I can email the files to someone if they want (or put them on my server or something) ..

QUESTION:  How do I change the TOGGLE On/Off that is occuring with the taskbar icon ... I want it to only Maximize the program but not Minimize it :) ... Is there a registry value I can change ?

11. Changed: Revised play button logic in Hairstyle so it only plays all visible when in file mode.

I don't know what file mode is in Hairstyle but I'd hoped that this was the change that would stop wiping out my Playing Now list and replacing it with everything in view when someone presses Pause (/MCC 10000,0).

I can find no way of pausing playback in hairstyle - and I've had to disable the Play/Pause button in favour of just Play to stop Playing Now being butchered everytime you go near the pause button.

jonesin' for the return of iPod support!

I'm also hoping that this is at the very top of the list.  I'm currently having some frustrating issues with syncing that I'm hoping will be addressed with the changes they're making.  My hope is that the issues are due to the fact that I'm using two iPods (details are in the iPod thread) and that the new build addresses the problem.

When will iPOD support return.  I'm missing the last few builds because I need the IPOD support.

What happened to the ability to clone a new library from an existing? The "Clone from:" dropdown is inaccessible and this is a feature that, while I don't use it a lot, is critical when I do.

It's there under Library Manager after you choose add.  If you need help, please start a new thread.

I'll answer my own question - After some digging I've found that the command 'set pause' (mjextman.exe /MCC 10022,-1) will do this.  I would urge any hairstyle users with remotes to use this instead of Play/Pause (/MCC 10000,0) which gives the annoying behaviour described above.

The /Mcc 10022,-1 was only found in a beta thread after a search of the forum.  This information is not detailed in the dev zone nor is it in the csv file in the girder folder.  What's the point of going to the trouble of adding these functions if you're not going to update the documentation?
