Trying to buy media centre
« on: June 07, 2004, 02:02:41 pm »

I know I'm a bit of a computer numpty, but it can't all be my fault!

I've been trying to buy mediacentre v10 since I downloaded it. I'm about half-way through the free trial, and still getting "no page to display" and "action cancelled" when I hit 'buy' either within help or when starting up..

Help (as non-technical as you like) would be appreciated.

I had a pretty good look at faq - no help...couldn't find anything relevant.
Instructions say to use internet explorer...all I can get to is the page that tells me what to do once the purchase page has opened. I can't get to that purchase page.

Q: Why does it hang where it says "Purchasing in progress, please be patient"?
A: Are you using a firewall?  Even though not reported in the logs, it may interfere with the data transfer process.   High security settings in your browser may also cause problems.

Success Sir, you are a genius...Thanks for your rapid and helpful response.

It was the firewall...tinkering with the settings allowed me to open the page.

All paid up...so glad I won't lose all that library organisation...

Thanks again,

Maybe your using too old of a version and need to upgrade to a newer version?

You aren't being rude if you didn't know better.

I wish I had something constructive to offer you but I don't hold the answer. You already wrote that you tried to install ver 10. I hope you get the support you need from this support forum.

Welcome to the forums.

What OS are you using?  Is it up to date?  Try IE/Tools/Windows Update.

MSN Explorer should be OK.

I wonder if you have a download problem.  Where did you get the file?  What is it named?  How big is it?

Did you use a download manager of any kind?  They can cause problems.

I downloaded the file from your site and the link they provided.  even entered to win the nomad player.

I will explain from the from the top

i was given a copy of Media Juke box 8.  i used the trial version and decided to purchase the plus version. I have done so. no problem.

I purchased a brand new machine with 512ddr, 1.8ghz amd athlon xp, lite-on dvd+/_ burner, lite on cd burner, S/B audigy pro, klipsch 7.1 speakers and a ATI al in wonder 9800 pro, and two hard drives (120 & 80 gb)  running windows XP corp edition.

when i used the original program from the cd that i first started with, it worked.  but when i try to re-install the license, i got the error message,  You are using a a code that is too new for this version of 8, please upgrade.  Fine, i go to the site and download the version 10 trial version.  whenb i try to instal, i get the error messag "failed to load JRImage.dLL"  I go back to the site and download the version 9.  this time it waited until the end of installation when it asked me to  run program now, i get the error message "you are opening a database that is too new for this version, please re-install.  And to boot, version 8 no longer works even when re-installed.

i checked the c:/windows/system32 folder where the other admin told me to check and make sure it is there.  The JRImage.dll that is and it IS there.  I love your program but i cannot afford to purchase it again.  I would pay a nominal fee for upgrade, but please, help me find a solution.  i have yet to find a media player that suits my needs like yours does.

Do you have a backup of your MC 8 library? If so, try restoring it and reinstalling MC 9. During your MC 10 upgrade (which you would have had to pay for anyway), it probably rewrote your library as an MC 10 lib, which MC 9 can't read.

It sounds like you V9 may be your best bet and you should try to get that going.

Install it, but delete your old database files.  They have a .jmd extension.  If you can then run V9, try importing data.

Then try to restore your license from our web page.  It's in the FAQ.
