When I run Tools-Import on my music directory, MC says it finds 387 new files and then proceeds the process of adding the new files. The problem is that if I immediately do another import, it will again report that it finds 387 new files and then imports them all over again. Looking at the Recently Imported smartlist shows nothing. The dialog box that comes up afterwards is even stranger. It reports:

What is going on here? Why do I have to reimport these 387 files and how do I even tell which ones they are? Why does MC import 387 every time yet report 5113 new files?

Okay, I deselected:
1) Fix or remove broken links
2) Update library for external file changes
3) Exclude file previously removed from library

I also told MC to only import audio files. I still get 387 new files found every time I do an import, even though I have not added any new files. Also, after adding the 387 files each time it says I have 5113 new files.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I set my recently imported value to 20 minutes to show that nothing shows up as imported even though MC shows 5113 new files after adding 387.

Do you have CUE files in the import folders? "Import Media" is not working properly with them (I think). Also playlist files can cause some surprises.

I use a separate "Rip&New" folder. I import to MC from there. Then I do all the needed tagging. After I have checked everything I let MC move them to the final location (Rename Files From Properties).

I think the import is acting weird too.

It says it fixes things that I didn't think were broke and says it's importing more files that I see in the "recently imported" screen.  It does however, import what I think it should be importing, but the leading number is gives seem incorrect.

I have no cue files and my library is set up pretty well. But, because the new "update library" feature is part of import, I ran the import to make sure everything is clean. That is when I noticed that it tries to import files even though I had no new files.

Each time it also says something like it fixes one broken link. Of course, if I immediately rerun import, it says it fixes a broken link again (and imports 387 files). Also, how can I have 5113 new files every time I run the import?

I ran another import today after I downloaded a new album. Of course, MC imported the new album along with the 387 files it imports every time. But, I noticed that it also imported 2 songs from an album that I had already imported. I noticed this before and thought it was a fluke but I realize that it is not. There are 2 songs that MC has imported several times now. I have checked all the tags and they are OK, same as the tags for the rest of the album.  Both songs are WMA Q98 VBR format, as are the rest of the songs on that album.

Could someone from JRiver please help me with this? I upgraded to 11.106 and I still have a problem. Could you at least tell where to start looking for the problem? Is there any way to tell what are the 387 files it imports each time? Is there any way to tell what are the 5113 new files each time?

Are there any other support options besides this forum?

Okay, I have narrowed the problem down. During import, if I deselect .m3u playlists as an import item, MC only finds 4 new files.

Is there a problem with .m3u playlists? I have a playlist in each of my album folders.  I have 383 albums with playlists. So, that and the 4 remaining files it tries to import make up the 387.

So, if I keep .m3u deselected, I only have a problem with MC trying to import 4 files each time. By the way, after importing these 4 files, MC reports no new files. And, there is no way to tell what these 4 files are.

Thanks for heads up on playlists being the cause.

If we can reproduce it, we'll fix it soon.
