MC 21 does not detect iPOD
« on: October 03, 2015, 06:24:12 pm »

I cannot get MC21 to detect my iPOD. I have spent a couple hours searchig for solutions but have not found anything so will ask the question here.

I am running Windows 10.

I have tried the easy stuff like rebooting and restarting all of the equipment (PC, softwate, iPOD, etc.) in various sequences with no success. My iPOD effortlessly connects to iTunes on the same PC. Tried Tools/OptionsHandheld and then both adding handheld and redetecting device.

Only older model ipods are supported with MC.  Anything that runs iOS can't be managed by MC.  If you have an ipod touch, for example, it won't work with MC.

There's a program designed to sync MC and itunes that you might be interested in.  MCiS:

It might be worth grabbing a copy of MC17...  Whenever I find the current version of MC won't talk to my iPod I go back to MC17... it seems to have more success, and then afterwards current MC works again.  Why?  Who knows.

for the last hour, i've been tearing my hair out over the same thing.  when all else fails - look on the forum.

'can't be managed by MC' or 'isn't managed by MC'.  i.e. can't be done or hasn't been coded yet?
MC doesn't recognize device, but Windows 10 does?

For a list of ways to transfer music without using the much hated iTunes go to -

really disappointed and surprised in MC not doing this.

it's technically feasible - JRiver just hasn't bothered to implement it.

We had very good support for Apple devices until they began to encrypt their database (to protect users, of course).

We spent more than $100,000 on our integration with Apple.  We won't make that mistake again.

This is an Apple issue.
