Hi,

Just had to upgrade from 3G iPod to 5G due to infamous battery failure (ah well, good excuse for early xmas present).

I've been happy up to now just synching music -- but now there's the prospect of photos and video too, I want it all! I've also just started getting into podcasts so am interested in that support.

I've done some searches in the forum and wanted to check I have it right on all these:

- Podcasts sync fine as regular audio but don't appear in the Podcasts list on iPod

- Photos don't sync but support is coming soon

- Video doesn't sync but is coming soon

- Album art does sync fine

It would be good to know if any of these are slated for the 11.1 GR so I know to keep up with the betas...

Also, I understand that video need to be mp4 for the iPod. I have a fairly old digital camera that records mpeg, but I'm not sure if they're mp1 or mp2. Are you looking at simple transcoding support?

To mp4? Not at this time.

my iPod is IpodType: A002 - is that right?

There is no right or wrong to this, but your iPod will be recognized automatically as an iPod video based on that number.

Well, my new iPod video finally arrived today in Mexico.  I'm charging it now.

I've been pretty lax in keeping up with where we are with the iPod video support.  Can anyone tell me what does and does not work and which version I should be running to get the best iPod video support.

About 1/2 of my music has album art, 1/2 doesn't.  i have downloaded a few podcasts, but haven't done anything with them - any suggestions on using them on the iPod.  Also, any suggestions on podcast videos?  They seem to exist, but i don't know if there's a good list of them anywhere.

I have about 40k pictures I'd like to load up, mostly all in .jpg format.  Any suggestions?

finally, I have 40 or so videos I'd like to load as well, in many formats.  What formats can i load, and what are size limitations?  Is MC able to do the required transcoding yet, or will it ever.  If not, any suggestions on what to use to do this work?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide me.  I'm quite excited to try out the video and photo support, but don't want to jack it all up by not starting off right.

Oh yeah, do I still need to load a file from iTunes to play .m4a files on the iPod, and also something from audible to play audiobooks?

Use the latest build of 11.1 for iPod anything.  Photo support is close -- maybe in a few days.  Video support not there yet, but another user posted about a workaround in the last few days.

Thanks Jim.  I'm sure things are a bit tougher in this area since Steve decided to move on.  i hope you guys are lucky enough to find a replacement that at least approached his calibre.  He will surely be missed.

the workaround posted?  Was that here or in the handheld forum?  I didn't see anything in the handheld forum, but I'll look again.

I'm sorry if I bring up an overly discussed topic on the 5G but I don't seem to find anything helpful.

With the latest build of MC 11.1 (101), I'm able to successfully sync with my Video Ipod:
- Music (mp3)
- Cover Arts come along nicely
- Photos
- Video (mp4)

So far everything is great but I came upon one issue. I'm not able to sync Quicktime Video for IPod (m4v). Either files directly formatted in m4v or converted with Quicktime Pro. I 've seen in one post that those should be sync'ed with Itunes but on every sync with MC it deletes them.
Is there a chance of support of m4v directly from MC ?

Where is the IPOD photo plug in for Windows xp and media center 11.  I only see it listed under media center 9.1.  I can't get the plug in to work with my Ipod photo.  Thanks.

There is no iPod plug-in for MC11.  iPod support comes with the program.

Try the latest build of MC11.1 from the MC board here.
