iRiver h10 and MC12
« on: November 15, 2006, 10:12:32 pm »

Hiya,
I tried MC12 yesterday with an iRiver H10. It added the music to the device fine (shows up with drive letter access so pretty straight forwards) but it doesn't add the music to the devices database and so all music added is unbrowsable with using the devices  Artist / Album / Genre browsing options.

Can only see if if you use the folder browsing method.

Is this a bug or does it just not support this device?

Thanks

This is a bug.

Workaround: In handheld options for the H10 turn off 'Enable album artwork support if possible" and try again.

Was this bug ever resolved?  I'm using MC 12.0.207 and an iriver e10 and have the same problem.  I can "Sync" from MC fine, but nothing is viewable, I have to run the iriver software and run the "Database Rebuild".

There are a few different posts for this problem, but I could find no definite answer.  I'm using the E10 and have the same issue.

Will MC12 support the iRiver E10/H10 database feature?  Is the database created by MC12 compatible? I wouldn't push so much if the iRiver Plus3 application wasn't such a POC  :-[

Any help is truly appreciated!  TIA

Make sure you're using the device in MTP mode.

If you run 'DataBase Refresh' (Settings > Extra) on the H10 does it find the content?

Why haven't you considered moving to Rockbox on your H10? I do not have any problems with MC 12 other than a different format it uses for Replay Gain. I tried using the iRiver crap and it is worthless. Rockbox builds the DB on the device instead of having to use your app on the PC. I do not know if MC builds a DB for Rockbox but I use a playlist to sync what I want then go to the menu and run update DB. It could do it automatic but I just don't do it that way.

My iRiver is an e10, I can't find any setting for the USB connection type, nor is there an option in any menu that I can find for "Rebuild Database".

Is there any other ideas?  I like the device, I like MC12, but they don't like each other.

rheacock, I do not have the H10 but I have the h320 and MTP mode was only done on the media port not the data port. I do not know if the H10 or e10 have both ports like the US model h320 which was set up to address DRM music on the media port as was a usb 1.1 not 2.0 like the data port has.

Sorry soooo long on the reply - I have the E10, not the H10.  I can't find any rockbox ports to the E10, and I don't believe the hardware is common enough between the two systems to try the H10 Rockbox port.   But I did find a playlist builder for the E10 that I might try.  Has anyone tried this PMPLib?  http://pmplib.sourceforge.net/
