Constant Crash [Solved -- Spybot problem]
« on: December 09, 2011, 07:14:32 pm »

I have been using mc for many years and I have never had it crash. It has been the most stable app on my desktop. It asks me to uninstall and reinstall and I have done this at least 6 times. I have done the complete uninstal and the partial both. It crashes about 20 to 30 seconds after program start. I cannot use the program basically. I am running win 7 64bit on an hp laptopwith a quad core i7. Please help.

I'm having a similar problem. MC has just started crashing on me regularly. It seems that it keeps scanning my disk drives as handheld devices? This coincided with the new Intel Matrix Storage driver releases, so that could be an issue, as well.

@Stimpy
Please download again, directly from JRiver.

Disable any security software and then reinstall.

@Bryanhoop
Please remove your virtual handheld in Options > Handheld.  Media Center crashes here:
53773: 3752: Handheld: CHHManager::InitializeProxyDevice: Start

Please remove your virtual handheld in Options > Handheld.  Media Center crashes here:
53773: 3752: Handheld: CHHManager::InitializeProxyDevice: Start

There are none listed, that's the problem. Should I run "redetect all devices?" (I'd rather not).

Uninstall any copies you obtained from other sources.

The handheld could be a USB thumbdrive.  Remove any external drives.

I have these versions 170022,170038,170046 all downloaded from this site and I still have all the downloads sitting in my downloaded folder. No Joy. Its no fun when this thing works for 30 seconds and crashes every single time.

Stop the press. Its a new version of SpyBot BETA which constantly re-enables its live protection automatically after its shutoff. Thank you everyone and Goodnight!

The Law of "Non-common elements and non-common effects" is ALWAYS in order.
