MacAllan and Laphroaig being particular favourites.
... and you're right... JRemote is pretty awesome, especially on iPad.
Those two are also quite wonderful. I've never had the 25 year Macallan, but I have had the Laphroaig a few times, and I've certainly had younger Macallans before.
One of the nice things about bourbon is that it can serve equally well as sipping whiskey and in a mixed drink (if you don't get trash). Sometimes, particularly on a warm spring evening, you just want something cool and refreshing. Muddled mint and simply syrup (basil works nicely as well), or
ginger ale Canada Dry and a squeeze of lime, are just right on those kinds of days. It also tends to be quite a bit cheaper for good quality stuff, at least here on our side of the pond. That Bulleit is fantastic and it is usually around $25 a bottle. Eagle Rare is also quite good and cheap.
I wouldn't, of course, dream of doing that with a nice bottle of single malt. I am sometimes guilty of using smaller ice cubes though (I have a "big" ice cube tray, but it is never full in the freezer when you want it and the automatic ice machine is
right over there). I know, I know... I could go without. But, well, I'm an American.
