Hello,
When audio files are associated to JRiver MC, they all appear with the same type "Media Center" in Windows Explorer and therefore can not be sorted by type.  :(

It would be more judicious to name them  "MC-MP3" or "MC-FLAC".   :)

Regards.

  • Where did I put my teeth?

Don't associate them.  You can still play them in MC.

This solution is only Media Center 19, and Windows Vista or newer.
I use Windows 8, but others have said it worked for them.
A solution for MC18, with details on what the registry files is doing, is available here

The attached registry file will replace all the Media Center associations with individual item types, and replaces the icons with standard Windows ones.
You first need to open Media Center and go to Tools > Options > File Types and disable all file associations.
Then run the registry file as an administrator.

And finally, you probably need to re-associate the files with Media Center in Explorer to get it to update the file type name.
Hold down shift, right-click a file, use "open with…" and pick Media Center 19.

rather poor solution, I'm sure you could do better. Others do.
