Author Topic: BUG / REQ : MC cannot distinguish SD card's of same type in same reader ??  (Read 6380 times)

I'm using three Lexar 128GB SD cards that I connect using the very same card reader.
MC now does not seem to be capable to distinguish these three cards.

Whenever I try to sync (using dedicated playlists for each card),
I always have to manually choose the correct playlist.

I consider this a bug, so is there a way to correct that ?

If it worked before, it's probably not an MC problem.  Sorry.

it never worked ! ...
... but it could work, since every card sports its own hardware-id, or MC could simply distinguish by the name ...

The question seems to be:  How does JRiver MC identify removable drives when they are defined as HandHelds?

I only have one SD card I use for this purpose (so far) and I pointed MC to it's file path when it was auto mounted by OSX.  E.G.:  /Volumes/MUSICARD1

I would have assumed that MC would distinguish other cards as being unique as long as they had different volume names, and therefor different mount paths.  Something else must be going on that I'm not familiar with.

Can someone more knowledgeable give us some insight?

Thanks,

Brian.

+1

There is something in
"/Users/*USER*/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 20/Settings/User Settings.ini"

Each external drive seems to get registered here, like:

[Portable Devices\\Detected Devices\\IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/EHC2@1A/AppleUSBEHCI/microSD RDR@1a120000/IOUSBInterface@0/IOUSBMassStorageClass/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00/IOBlockStorageServices]
[Portable Devices\\Detected Devices\\IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/XHC1@14/AppleUSBXHCI/microSD RDR@15200000/IOUSBInterface@0/IOUSBMassStorageClass/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00/IOBlockStorageServices]

These strings are not identical.
So it seems the cards are distinguihed.

The problem no is, that the playlists that I have set up for each card do not stick to the individual cards.
I want MC20 to sync specific playlists to each different card, but that does not work.
I have to manually change the sync playlist whenever I change the card.

I want to rejuvenate the thread, since MC21 is still not able to distinguish SD-cards attached ta a card reader to my OSX.

That can well be down to using the same card-reader for all my SD cards, but then MC21 distingueshes the reader rather than the card.

I have checked the config, and all cards get different entries, but are identified as one once within MC21.
So everytime I change the card for re-syncing I need to adjust the respective sync-playlist (that I have set up for each card).

I guess thats an easy fix once it has been looked into

Are you able to name the cards at the OS level?
