Printing to USB printers with TCP-PLUS
« on: June 03, 2004, 11:27:58 am »

I am trying to print to printers connected via USB ports.

The printer attempts to receive the report, but never prints.  What do I need to do to make ICELP work with USB connected printers?

First, if it is a "winprinter" it will probably never work. Check this thread:
http://yabb.jriver.com/ice/index.php?board=7;action=display;threadid=188

If it's not a winprinter, it MAY work depending on the quality of the printer driver. You SHOULD be able to select the printer in iceconfig. If the version of PLUS is recent the data will be sent to the printer in raw format.

If the printer is USB/Parallel you are better off using the parallel connector.

We're running version 5.0 of ICE.TCP and a USP HP1000 printer that has the same problem described here.

Any idea if the latest offering, version 5.1, will handle this any differently?

You should download the trialware/update to 5.1.21 from our website. That is more likely to work with your printer.
You will have to update the license server as well if you existing version is <5.0.81 (help->version info)

I had the same issue. Just talked to someone in support & they have me go to File, local printer setup & select raster printing. This fixed the issue with a Dell PC & Dell USB Laser
