Printing Errors - winspool.drv
« on: June 07, 2004, 10:48:12 am »

Windows 2003 Server, Citrix XPe FR3.  ICE TCP PRO 4.4 32bit.  Local printing is setup for each user to print to network printers.  Users complain of getting errors when trying to print.
“172.16.0.2: deja32.exe – Application Error.  The instruction at “0x730735a5” referenced memory at “0x00000014”.  The memory could not be “read”.  Click on OK to terminate the program or Click on Cancel to debug the program”

In the event log, there are quite a few errors that state, Faulting application deja32.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module winspool.drv, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x000035a5.  Event ID is 1000.

Anyone seen these before or worked on them?

Thanks,
Jason

You might want to try changing the spool settings. They should be set so that printing starts AFTER the last page is spooled. Also, if you can change it for that particular printer, it should be sent to RAW mode, not EMF.

Finally, if you are not running the current version you should get an update, the current version has changed printing from versions 6 months or older.

Thanks for the reply Bob.  She is printing to a Laserjet 5 (with the current windows xp driver).  Both items you mentioned (spooler setting and RAW) were already set that way.  She told me that after she tries to print, the app will close.  She goes back into the app and can print fine.  However, this does not happen all the time and sometimes she can print fine all day.  I have told her today to try printing to a different network printer for a few days to see if it's the printer or not.  In the meantime, anything else you can think of?

Thanks

We are using ICETCP4.4 - we chose not to use version 5 because the interface/functionality was too different  and was confusing our users.  We just purchased this 2 months ago so it should be your latest version.  I checked your website and it shows 5.1.21, but we're trying to stay away from that..

Well if yours is only 2 months old it's completely compatible with the 5.1.21 version. Since 5.1.21 hasn't been online for 2 months yet that means there ARE printing changes in the 44 version which is part of the PRO package that you don't have. I suggest you run in the update onto one machine and test this out. All you have to do is to get the update to one PC, run the install (do the user install of classic 4.4 only) and cancel out of configwizard when it gets to that point (you already RAN configwizard on that PC so you don't need to do it again).

Report your results back please.
