re sequencing client access
« on: June 07, 2004, 01:59:54 pm »

I have updated the ICE-TCP Pro licensing server to version 5.69. The problem is with a new XP system
(the reason for the upgrade on the server) gets an error conflict with another (older) system that is using the same sequence number. Is there an easy way to resequenced the XP system without the painful uninstall, sequence number delete, reinstall and remapping the custom screen colors for that user?

5.0.69? That's too old to work properly on XP! You really need a newer version. If you have a bunch of clients running <5.0.81 you will need to update the admin server and all of the clients. See the MANY other posts in this forum on this topic.

You can just run configwizard from the client by browsing to the licenseadmin server but this will only work if the versions on the licenseadmin server and the rest of the clients are close to being the same. The breakpoint is 5.0.81 as stated above.

You should be able to get the TCP.PRO update, backup your licenses on the licenseadmin server, install the new server portion on the licenseadmin server, reinstall the licenses (if necessary), and go to each client PC and run the network install by BROWSING to TCP_USER on the licenseadmin machine and running setup. If you uncheck the "select configuration profile" box  when you get to configwizard you should be able to keep you profile colors, etc. Try updating the server and one client machine to see how it goes.
