ICELPD Error
« on: June 08, 2004, 11:31:23 am »

We have two ICELP icons at bottom of screen.  The second one says:

Unix Host 192.168.1.150 Does Not Reply

Or Wrong Socket Number 2346

For ICELPD, Terminating ICELP

Cannot get any reports to print on the matrix printer connected to the lpt port.

The second one should be the error box. You didn't say whether you had this working before or not but I'm assuming not and that you don't have it configured right either on the PC end or the Unix end.

The printer was working before the error started.  I eliminated the unix problem by installing a local printer on another PC and configuring ICELP.Everything worked fine.  Problem is not with Unix system.

I installed a different matrix printer to eliminate printer being problem.  Same error appears.

This is a windows XP machine.  Everything was working fine until recently.

Tried installing a generic printer.  Same results.

The error is saying that the PC is having a problem connecting to that unix machine on that socket.

You should try connecting to the icelp port on that unix machine with Microsoft telnet and then try the commands under the tips and tricks section that refer to debugging icelp.

Start->Run type in
telnet 192.168.1.150 2346
hit enter

you should get a telnet window and a connect. If you don't get a connection the problem is that the PC cannot connect to that host on that port. If you do get a connect, try the commands in the tips and tricks section. If they work then you have a problem in the config of icelp on the PC, recheck it. Look for extraneous spaces in the IP or some such. If you get a connect but the commands don't work you might have a hung icelp session on the unix machine though that should clear out after 15 minutes anyway.

Have determined that telnet services were not started.  Problem resolved when services restarted
