ICE TCP PRO Licenses issue
« on: July 04, 2005, 02:48:45 am »

We have a customer with an ICE TCP PRO 5.1.25 installed on 3 computers. They are on the same network connecting to the same server but each one with its own license and appears a serial conflict when configure the second server. The error message is:

Fatal configuration error ICE TCO Pro 777
This message was generated due to a conflict
    192.168.3.203 and 192.168.1.202
    with the serial number 1

Are there any way to configure 3 independent licenses (1 user) on the same network?    Could you send us the steps to configure correctly this instalation?

Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

It looks as though you installed the admin and user portion on each of the three computers; the admin portion can only be installed on one computer. The three single user licenses are all installed on the one computer (using the admin config program). The user portion for the other two computers need to be installed using the tcp5_user folder on the admin computer. See manual for installation details. The conflict errors will then go away.

Be sure to uninstall the admin portion of Pro on the other two computers, then remove the tcp5_user folders from these computers (if they still exist).  At a minimum, you will need to rerun the config wizard on each to get new sequence numbers assigned from the tcp5_user of the admin computer, for these computers.

Our customer verified these steps and the problem persist. He is working with Windows XP SP2.

Are there any other way to solve this issue?

If you are still getting conflict errors, it means that either the configwizard wasn't rerun on the client computers, or the license folders on the other two computers weren't removed, so the config wizard got the same sequence assignment as before.

In order to get conflict errors there must be Pro admin server software installed on more than one computer, or, there was once more than one server, and not all the client computer had config wizard rerun to get a new sequence number.

When config wizard is run on each client computer it gets assigned the next available sequence number--in this case sequence number 1,2,& 3 will be assigned  to the computer in order in which config wizard was run. But if there are three servers, each computer will be assign sequence number 1, and conflicts will occur. The assignments will persist on the clienct computer until config wizard is run connecting to the right server.

First move the two other licenses (they have to have the same company name) to the computer you pick to have the definitive license server. You should end up with 3 user licenses in licenseadmin on this authoative license server. Don't run configwizard on the client PC's by clicking on the shortcut in the menu. This shortcut points to the license server that was used to install the program. Instead, browse to the new "one and only" license server and then into TCP_USER->TCP-PRO and run configwizard.exe in there.
This should assign the conflicting computers new sequence numbers.
