Logging onto server via internet
« on: April 12, 2006, 10:40:45 am »

We are a small company with a five-user license of Ice TCP Pro version 5.0.  We have 5 users at the office. Our office server uses a UNIX operating system, but all of our work stations are Windows XP. Currently, to log-in to the server after hours from home, we use Ice TEN, which is a dial-up connection.

Our office network is connected to the internet.  Is it possible to install TCP Pro on a remote computer, so that we can connect via the internet after hours(bypassing the need for a dial-up modem), even though all five of our licenses are in use at work?

You would need to:

1) install a VPN to work from home OR install sshd on your SCO box.
2) be aware of the security issues from step 1, for example it would be best if your home IP address was static so you could firewall at work and allow only that address to access the VPN.
3) get 1 more pro license.
