ICE.TCP Version 4.3.1 installation for Windows 7
« on: March 10, 2010, 04:02:40 pm »

I just bought a new laptop that includes Windows 7 already installed.

I'm trying to load ICE.TCP (Version 4.3.1), but I get the following error message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.  Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I checked the laptop's system information, and it is 64-bit.

Is there any way I can get ICE.TCP (Version 4.3.1) to work on my laptop?

I installed Windows 7 on my previous laptop, and ICE.TCP (Version 4.3.1) installed with no problem.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the error message is suggesting that you see if you need a 32-bit or 64-bit version of our software.  We do have 32-bit versions of our ICE.TCP software that installs on Windows 7.  Why the 16-bit version of TCP installed on your other PC, we do not know, nor do we know if it is stable.  We haven't sold or supported the 16-bit version of ICE.TCP for several years.
You may want to contact our sales department at 612-677-8200 regarding an update for your software.

Neither Windows 7 or Vista (32 or 64 bit) can run 16 bit programs (which ICE.TCP 4.3.1 is). You need an upgrade to the current ICE.TCP Plus or Pro.
