invalid port name or number
« on: January 12, 2005, 03:59:50 pm »

Icetcp pro has been working ok for over a year and all of a sudden I began receiving the message "invalid port name or number" when I tried to logon to our network telnet server (linux server).  The other 9 workstations are still able to logon to linux, and from my workstation i can telnet to linux using windows telnet but not icetcp pro.  Please help.

Something has happened to your windows services file. On the connect line, change the port from telnet to 23 and you should be OK.

Is this a permanet solution.  How do I get it so the Telnet Port works again.  I do not wish to change this every time.

Thanks

It's messed up in your windows services file if I remember right. You can check it. Alternatevly, change the port to 23 in the hosts->edit hosts selection.
