I have created a set of custom fields that apply to my images (jpgs).  Can I store this information in image tags?  When I view Properties->Format, I see:

MJMD Tag: v1.0 (665 bytes - APPID 9)

but it doesn't show any of my custom fields.  It would be ashame to enter values into these fields for thousands of files and then for the information to be lost if MediaCenter were to go away!

Thanks!

Hi yogi,

When you edit your custom fields in Options/Tree & view../configure library field.
There is a check box labelled "Store in file tags (when possible)".

You need to check this box if you want your custom fields to be saved in the MMJD/JPG tags.

Hope this helps,

Christian

Great, that seems to have worked, although it only updates based on changes to fields, so I'll need a trick or a chunk of time to update all the tags.

Where is the MJMD Tag stored?  Is it part of the source JPG file?  Will any other applications be able to read the contents of the tag?  I see the ability to store this information as an incredible method of image archival.  I can't believe that it isn't more widely used considering the proliferation of digital photography.

I think the tags are saved in the JPEG header or somewher as xml data.

But I think it's best to ask Matt for details on the MJMD tags.

No other application can read the tag. It's not standard like EXIF or IPTC that PSP or PS can read.
One thing is for sure is that this information will not be saved if you edit the image in PSP(7/8 ) or Photohop(7/elements).
