Bonjour,

I recently burned a CD with MC 21 from a 24/96 hi res download (Mahler 10 by Nezet Seguin on Atma Classique). The CD plays well. What is the transformation process or algorithm used to convert 24/96 to 16/44? Is this CD comparable to the CD the industry would produce?

I'd like to know an answer on this too! I regularly burn CDs with MC21 that are from 24/96 and 24/192 files. I'm hoping it just converts them to 16/44 and not some kind of mp3 conversion.

If any developers know this answer, please pass along!

Thanks,
Spencer

I've never tried, but why don't you test this yourself if you want to find out fast ... re-rip  a cd you burned and import it temporarily ... you'll see for yourself the bit depth and the sample rate in the tag info

It'll of course just convert it to pure 16/44.1, with proper dithering and everything, and not something silly like MP3 in between, that would be crazy. :)
