Feature Req : Brainwave SCANNER support
« on: September 10, 2003, 11:17:05 am »

if your'e  like me, there are times when u get a sound in your head ..and you know its in that (soon to be gigantic) MC library. Problem is you dont remember who sang it and what its called. So it drives you nuts until you search through a 100 songs and just can't find it. At which point you either go crazy or forget about the whole episode for the sake of your sanity.

What i am looking for is support in MC for a scanner similar to this one

... you know  so that MC can read my brainwaves and find the song i am thinking of.

Now i understand it might be difficult to program this into the search dialog or ver 9.1, but maybe if the scanner came with a USB or firewire connection , it might work

you can do that now, use the "Aux" port on your sound board. there is some info in the help file if you get stuck.

That's right King, and I think you can get a patch cord at Radio Shack (tm). It needs to go from an 1/8" phone jack on one end to self threading electrodes on the other end.

NOTE: Make sure you get the polarity right, the negative electrode goes on the left side of your head, the positive on the right side. If you get it wrong, it invariably spits out Barry Manilow tunes. Not sure why...

JohnT:
I went to Radio Shack and they gave me that patch cord. I followed your instructions, but MC always showed this error message:

"Copulation not possible, no 'willing' objects in database"

I even tried to change the polarity, but then MC shows

"Fill up not possible, no liquid alcoholic objects in database"

Some friends of mine tried it, too. But the results were the same. I'm really confused. My girlfriend said that she had expected these results, but she don't want to tell me why.

What can I do to make it work?

Mmh, I ask her if she would like to try the cord and make a search, but she said she would prefer to do a search when I'm not at home.

ROFLMAO!

Reminds me of a fortune cookie I once got...

I went back to Radio Shack to exchange the cord and they were very friendly. They said that problems with the cords occur quite often when the users brain is too small... but they offered me this:
http://www.fu-fme.com
Did not tried it yet, but maybe it can help you to tango...

I found a much cheaper and simpler way of doing this to simply be to use King Sparts Lyrics finder on all my music to get it tags - then I humm the song to myself - type in a few words from the song that I remember and BOOM - there's the song found for me thanks to his highness :)
