Not sure how well received this will be, but as someone who collects a lot of this sort of thing, especially old chiptunes and such.  Having native support for these formats in some way would be nice.
I don't fancy the idea of converting all my tiny files to FLAC or even MP3.  The cost in drive space would be astronomical.

That being said, I know a commercial license for something like BASS  (module support) is likely to cost a pretty penny.   But there are still others out there like  in_vgm  (for retro consoles) which are open source and have source code available.

Anyway just thought I would ask.

Wow, what a blast from the past.  The last time I knew anyone who was actively interested in MOD files and the like, was 1995 or 1996.  Even then they weren't very popular.  Popular enough to have MOD editing and creation programs available.  But most people, even computer savvy people, had no idea what they were.

I *think* I have one MOD file hanging around somewhere.  "Open Your Mind", with some movie quotes from Total Recall used as samples.  :)

I've got gigabytes of MOD files sitting around on a drive somewhere.   And tons of game console VGMs too.   Some old  SID collections, etc.

I didn't have a soundcard back then so didn't really know about modules either, but I got into them later on

Heck maybe just give us the ability to use winamp / xmplay type  input plugins if possible.

that would help a whole lot.
