Do you have your new video card installed and running?
If so, you can turn on hardware acceleration and switch to ROHQ.

I had a similar problem once and I traced to using WASAPI without event style (my sound card wouldn't support event style).

Replacing the sound card with one that allowed event style solved the problem for me, so you might try different sound card interface types in JRiver to see if the problems go away with one of them.

It's one of the options to WASAPI.  Check your audio options in JRiver.

Unfortunately I don't have that option listed.

You do - you're just looking in the wrong place. However, this is not your issue. Your video card supports Event style just fine. Please let us know that you have tried what we suggest before soliciting further suggestions.

Did you try hardware acceleration yet? It's under Options> Video.

You can also enable ROHQ too

Tried ROHQ and hardware acceleration this made it worse very jumpy and lip sync out.
I have looked under Tools, audio, audio device and I dont have event style listed or is it somewhere else?

Your motherboard is older, so may require this setting. Click Device Settings to see the dialogue.

just one more question (famous last words ) Everything seemed to be going well but then I had two mp4 25fps files one played out of lip sync and jumpy the whole way through, the second was perfect.
Could this be a bad DL or when I transferred from one drive to another mess it up ?

Do you have Media Info on your PC?

If so, check both files side by side using Media Info and see if you can spot any differences. Perhaps the problem file was interlaced and the good file not? Or perhaps they have different audio formats?

View Media Info in text format, save and post the output files here if you can't understand the output, or want further help.

Yep, that is the correct output to compare.

But that file was an MP4 rather than an MKV file, which was the topic of this thread.

Note that the Scan Type is Progressive in this one, so it is not an interleaved file. Interleaved video can cause playback issues with some settings.

I'm not an expert on all the parameters Media Info displays, but if you post that sort of content for one bad file and one good file, someone may be able to pick what the problem is.

Thanks again, again we had an extremely twitchy tv show last night. The only way I can explain it is it was like someone was trying to control the show then it would have this huge twitchy thing going on. could this be the video accelerator. Lip sync was ok.

Do you have Dropbox? Perhaps you could share the file with me and I can check it out for you. Also, did you do what I suggested by PM?

yes i did and am doing that on all now.
I have just tried the same file on my desktop and its fine so there must be something on the HTPC thats causing this.
