Streaming to USB DAC on Galaxy Tab3
« on: October 21, 2015, 06:37:54 pm »

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Tab3 which allows me to play hi res audio through 'USB Audio Player PRO' app to a DragonFly DAC.  Is it possible to play from JRiver to the USB DAC on my Tab3?

I have JRemote on the Tab3 and am playing through the Tab3 headphone socket ok.  Current version of Android is 4.4.2, and I have Media Center 21 on my PC.

I know it wasn't possible before because the Tab3 wasn't capable, but an android update could have made it possible.
It's easy to test, just connect your DAC and see if music comes out.

I have a Note 3 and it sends all audio from all apps to my DAC when it's connected at 16bit 48kHz.
Using either "Google Play Music" or Samsung's "Share Music for Group Play" I am able to play 24bit 196kHz through my DAC.
I haven't tried playing music with a DAC since the Android 5.0 update, so it could be different now.

I think most, or all, new Samsung devices with work with DACs. New as in the last year.
