Dr. Watson in MC when modify tags
« on: September 06, 2003, 01:12:52 pm »

Hello again.
Unforunately all my attempts to solve the MC 9.1 crash while editing any file tags have been unsuccessful so far. Now with File Monitor at least I found that MC 9.1 does produce an error that is tracked by Dr. Watson.  :'(

Here's the fault part of it:

I can send the complete log & user.dmp if you need it.
I hope that you can find something using this. I love MC very much but with this problem I cant use it anymore.

Thanks in advance!

Pietro,
Are the files or the directories read only?

What type of file?  MP3?

Anyone else see this problem?  Or have any ideas?

Thanks Jim for your quick response. No, the files and directories are not read only (you remember the thread we had on this already). I also have no problems editing the tags with i.e. Media Player.
The files are all MP3.

Thanks

No, I don't remember.  If you have an old thread going, it helps to reply to it.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling if you haven't.

Pietro,
Dr. Watson is Microsoft's utility.  He will never tattle on Microsoft, so it's useless to us.

The problem you have is unique to your system, as far as I can tell.

Bad memory can cause problems.  Corrupt OS's can cause problems.  There are other possibilities.

We might be able to help solve it, but it isn't a Media Center bug, in all likelihood.

Did you try an uninstall/reinstall?

Well, I tried many things, including uninstall and a fresh reinstall of MC. Nothing did help. Maybe its something wrong with my machine, the good thing for me is the fact that no other program shows this problem... Thanks anyway for your try to help. I'll continue to research...
Good night for today.

suggestion:
Turn OFF D. Watson.
I did and since then have gotten no "Media Center has cause an error" message on MC shutdown.

Like my ex told me, if there is a funny noise under the hood, turn the radio louder.

I did tun it off and I think MC runs better. . .  .less errors or lest reporting, who knows.
