Track Info Templates ?
« on: September 04, 2003, 11:21:36 am »

Where are all the Track Info Templates?  There are only a few available on my MC, yet I see others, like the one shown on the WinDoze screenshot?  There are none available for download from the PlugIn screen for v9.

Where do they come from?  How do I get more?

The entries on the template page for MC9 were deleted some time ago, I don't know why...

The templates for MJ8 also work with MC9.

You can find the templates I posted with the WinDoze Skins in the skin thread. I will try to upload them (updated versions) and some other templates I made to the MC9 template page when 9.1 is released...

There is a shortage of useful Track Info Templates.

Of all that I've tried, Simple is close, but there is no cover art.

If anyone ever wants to make a good one, just modify Simple and add cover art to the right where the static picture of the folder and the eyeglasses are.

I guess a useful Track Info Template (for me), shows cover art and other info in the minimum space possible with no visualizations.

Flashy stuff is just a distraction, visualizations are downright annoying (to me).

Try my "Tutti Frutti" template. There should be a version without visualizations.

I must agree.

Funny, that was exactly what I did when I first got MJ8! I then added Lyrics and now have added Bios (due mainly to KingSpartas plugin which downloads stuff for here).

Yes, also visualisation based Track Info templates don't get it right if the window is larger than expected. My normal system is a 1600x1200 screen and I tend to open up MC nearly full screen. Visualisations inside Track Info templates are just look ugly.

Apart from the few simple based ones I have tweaked myself, I also tend to use the PicOS plain text one.

That one does not work with 9.1 on my system, does it work on yours?

There are quite a few Track Info Templates for v8 which do not work with v9.

Yes there is, but it does not show cover art images in v9.  The cover art just shows a white box.

Any chance on you updating it for v9?

Thanks.  However, I created a new dir in Visualizations and unzipped the download to there.

MC now sees the new Track Info Template but shows only

"unable to display selected Track Info Template"

when I select it.

Was there there something else I was supposed to do to intall it?

There is a folder inside the uncompressed folder. This folder is called "gkerber". You need to rename it to "Polonio", and copy it to "Track Info" folder.

It should work.

Good one.... But I get it now.  The modified fix is in the gkerber folder.  And it works, no distracting visualizations.

I've been looking around in all the Track Info Template files and I'm surprized to see it's all text web based stuff, and I can do that.....

So thanks everyone for the help, and now I may get dangerous making my own Track Info Templates.

Yes, Thanks for sharing this.

I tired to modify ths so that it would also display the composer.

I assume that the keyword would be:
TRACKINFO_INSERT_COMPOSER

However, MC does not seem to recognize this keyword. It displays, "TRACKINFO_INSERT_COMPOSER" rather than the name of the composer.

Also, what are the keywords to display custom fields that I have created? If I have custom field called "Styles" how do I reference it?

See http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/DevZone/Track%20Info.html for details on trackinfo fields.

Edit:
Scratch that one...  See http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/DevZone/Track%20Info.html instead...

I did look at those pages. The reference to Composer does not work. (Actually, Composer is not even listed on the SDK.)

The following html code:

<TR>
     <TD ALIGN=right WIDTH=70 HEIGHT=21 BGCOLOR="#7D7D7D">
        <P class=bb>Composer :&nbsp;
     </TD>
     <TD COLSPAN=5 BGCOLOR="#7D7D7D">
        <P class=bn>&nbsp;TRACKINFO_INSERT_COMPOSER
     </TD>
  </TR>

Produces the following result:

"Composer: TRACKINFO_INSERT_COMPOSER"

Similarly, the following code:

<TR>
     <TD ALIGN=right WIDTH=70 HEIGHT=21 BGCOLOR="#7D7D7D">
        <P class=bb>Composer :&nbsp;
     </TD>
     <TD COLSPAN=5 BGCOLOR="#7D7D7D">
        <P class=bn>&nbsp;TRACKINFO_INSERT(Styles)
     </TD>
  </TR>

Produces the following result:
"Styles: TRACKINFO_INSERT(Styles)"

Try:
TrackInfo_Insert(Composer)
(Capitalize it as shown, becuase there have been parts of MC in the past that are picky that way...)

Well for me the PixOS Plaintext one is fine. I am not having any real issue with the v8 templates I have. The only thing I have seen that is different is that v9 seems to support a more flexible method of trackinfo inserts, however for me this doesn't seem to conflict with my v8 templates. However has I have already stated, most of the templates I use are reasonably simple - so I'm probably not pushing the envelope as it were! :-)
