I'm considering buying a download from High Definition Tape Transfers (HDTT) that is available in DSD256. I'm using a Toshiba Windows 8.1 laptop/MC19 as my source. I usually have the PC upsample to 192/24 & output via HDMI to a NAD C390DD direct digital DAC/amplifier which has maximum input resolution of 192/24.
Will MC19 play a DSD256 file and send it at 192/24 HDMI to the C390DD? I want the DSD256 file for future use as upgrades become available, but if I can't use it right now I might as well go with the 192/24 FLAC download. I also don't want to be required to change DSP output settings from WASAPI to ASIO (or other settings) just to use this one file.
