"Transparent skin" possible?
« on: September 05, 2003, 08:43:22 pm »

I had an odd thing happen  ..........
I left the visualization playing while I minimized MC,
when I maximized it again the area where the visualizations belong was transparent,
and I could see my desktop surrounded by the 'necessary' parts of the MC interface.

Is it possible to make such a skin?
Or perhaps just a track info template?

Since this area is adjustable by resizing the tree pane and the file list pane, it would allow a good portion of the desktop to be seen.
You could even run a program or an instant messanger inside that area surrounded by Media Center. . . .  like the inverse of a mini-me skin.

I have not been able to reproduce this behavior, but it looked like it could be neat to play with.

No, it's not possible...
Transparency from PNG files is only possible in front of MC's background, not in front of the desktop or other programs. Therefore it can only be used for buttons, icons, sliders (in MEGA-ME) and maybe some other parts in mini-me.
Transparency from a defined transparency color for PNG, GIF or BMP files can be used even in front of the desktop or other programs (only 100% transparency...). This is how the rounded border edges of some skins are made, for example. One could make a mini-me skin with a "hole" where you can look through, but I don't know if this would be more than just a joke... It doesn't make much sense for MEGA-ME.
You can not use transparency for lists or TrackInfo backgrounds... if you are missing your messenger late at night, try the windows taskbar  ;D  :-X  :P

BTW... Was your bios field problem solved?
