Author Topic: Apparently I don't understand the relationship between libraries and playing now  (Read 2172 times)

My main media server is in my living room.  From it, I play my FLAC files and everything's cool.  However, because I moved my library from a previous inferior media player, some of my tags aren't right.  It's a pain in the butt, but I have some cleaning to do and eventually I hope it'll all be straight.

I'm also running MC on my office computer upstairs.  I am really impressed with how MC sees the other instances of itself and allows me to choose from where to play.  But when I make tag changes to the files, they don't show up downstairs.  So, is it the case that even though I'm playing from the same set of files, there are two separate libraries?  I would have thought that the changes I was making were being applied to the main server.  And, in addition, I thought that all the changes I made to the tags in the library would also be made to the FLAC files. But neither of these are missing.

What am I misunderstanding or doing wrong?

Thanks

Go to Tools - Option - Media Network and turn on Authentication. Then when you connect upstairs it will asked your for the username and password for the downstairs system. Then your changes will be saved. Without authentication turned on, you just do not have permission to make changes from a remote system. Unfortunately, it does not generate any error message to tell you that.

Ah that makes sense.  Thank you very much.
