My Surface Pro Tablet is the only computer I use anymore. I got that and 3 docking stations for way less than the price of 3 computers. I keep one dock in the office, another in the master bedroom and another wired into the receiver/theater in the family room, I'm getting a fourth dock to install in the basement game room soon. If I want media in the bedroom from bed, I grab the tablet and dock it in the bedroom stereo/tv system, if its movie night I grab the tablet and dock it in the dock for the home theater setup, if I want to work I grab the tablet and dock it in the office to my dual monitored desk and office DAC with all the usb peripherals, etc. Much easier than maintaining multiple computers, its a tablet, but it never leaves the house.
I have no intention of ever buying a desktop machine again that I can think of. This may not be for you but you asked. Mines an i5 but plenty fast, I may spring for the i7 Surface (or whatever they have) in a few years.
