Music now duplicated on non-existant E: drive.
« on: November 18, 2015, 03:07:25 pm »

Hello;  I am running version 19, with all my music on my external hard drive;  PC operating system, Windows 7, USB out.
For some reason all my music is now duplicated on a non-existand E: drive.
I play 90% of my music using "play 100 random songs".  When I make the list 1/2 of the songs show up as being on the mystery E: drive and JRiver cannot locate the files.
I do not have a E: on my system, nor on my external drive and it is driving me nuts.
I don't know what I did, but I would sure like to delete the E: phantom files.
I posted on Audiogon and it was suggested I post here.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I should add that I also do not see the E: files in my library.

Three answers:

1.  I would wonder why this happened and want to try to track down what did it.  Anything you might have changed recently would be suspect.

2.  MC makes automatic library backups every few days.  You should be able to restore to a time before you saw this happening and have everything be normal again.

3.  You can simply remove all of the E: files and be rid of them.  But I'd be cautious unless you're certain the E: drive files are duplicates as opposed to orphaned entries for songs that you still have somewhere else.

I would go to a files view (Audio > Files) and look at the Location pane.  Find the E drive there and see what entries are on it.  You can simply highlight them all and delete... if you are SURE.

I will try your method this evening when I get home.  I'll post back my findings
Thank you Brian

Thank you BIGENTRY;  I removed the E: files and all is better now.  It/they were located in the files tab as you said.
Thanks for you folks' help.
