With more and more people jumping on board (especially with the downfall of windows MC) I was thinking about how JR could make the transition process a bit easier for people.
I know it would probably take a fair bit of effort to create, but how about those lightbox overlay screens, like you get in apps and on websites? With instructions / pointers on how to use particular functions.
Appear first time each section is used in Theater View, optionally able to be turned off.
For instance, the first time someone went to the TV guide in Theater View, there'd be an overlay explaining
- What the colours are
- How to record a show (and what it looks like when they do)
- How to subscribe to a show
- The green Playing Now arrow
- A question asking if they want video to continue playing when they return to the guide (so they can set it without having to look for it in Settings)
Whenever an update is made that adds a function, the overlay could show again explaining it e.g with the green Playing Now Arrow being added recently.
It would literally be a step by step walkthrough of Theater View.
