Guide - Display more than 1 Hour & 3 channels
« on: December 09, 2015, 03:06:32 pm »

Any way to change the number of rows/columns? Like 8 channels & 3 hours worth?

Is it possible to bring up the guide overlay while playing live tv or recorded show? keyboard shortcut for that?

I believe this is dependent on your screen size. What screen size are you running on? I run on 1920 * 1080 and I get 6 or 7 channels and a good 3 hours listings.

Not an overlay, but if you're using a standard WMC remote you can press the guide button and it will take you to the TV guide. If you set Tools > Options > Theater View > Pause video playback when entering theater view to Off, you'll still see what's showing in the bottom right corner.

Like imugli said, if you go to Tools>Options>Theater View>Appearance>Size you can reduce the guide size to see more channels and time slots. Adjust according to your display size and eyesight.

On my laptop (1440 x 900), I set the Theater View size to 75% and I get 13 channel rows and 3 hours of scheduling. On my big 64" TV (1080) I set the size to 125%. It's all personal preference.

Testing on laptop. Screen resolution is 1920x1080.

Theater View SIZE was the key. Defaulted to 125%, changed to 75% and all is good!

No remote with laptop so cannot try guide button. WMC keyboard shortcut is CTL-G, but does not appear to do anything in MC.

According to this

http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Keyboard_Hot-keys

There's no keyboard shortcut to TV Guide.

Post a request, you can't be the only one for whom this would be useful :-)

It's ok for testing...

Any way to highlight or mark NEW tv show episodes in the guide displayed in Theater View?

Not currently, no. But again, a great idea.

You can currently set up a theater view item to search for things, but I'm not sure what you'd be looking for and it would display in a list, not a grid like the guide.

There's no keyboard shortcut to TV Guide.

However you can create one, which may be helpful in your testing.

Ctrl+G (for Guide) and Ctrl+E (for EPG) are in use, so perhaps Ctrl+Shift+G?
This step requires a little work, but it isn't too bad.

Done.

I've got as far as downloading the resource.xml, opening it in editor. But from there it's over my head. Just guessing I need to add a line somewhere in that file like:

<Entry Key="Ctrl;Shift;g" Command="22001" Param="9" Global="1" />

Don't know if that is close or not?
Don't know where in the file I need to add the line?
Don't know if I leave all the other stuff in that file alone or delete it out?

The wiki and "example xml" just doesn't explain things.

The documentation isn't that good, I know. It has been quite a while since I looked at it, and I'm not an expert on that bit. I knew that would be the hardest bit!  8)

Anyway, search the forum for threads that have discussed modifying the resource.xml file. There have been a few, and some were quite informative. It may take a bit of searching to find them though. Sorry I can't help more just at the moment.
