Display what Channel a tv show was recorded on
« on: December 11, 2015, 09:24:52 am »

After a tv show is recorded and is showing up under "shows", there is nothing telling me what channel that show was recorded on. Can't figure out if there is some option to make this happen?

The channel a show is recorded on is saved in the "Artist" tag which can be viewed in Standard view.

Nothing showing at all under Artist in standard view.

If I can get it to show something under Artist in standard view, how do i show it in theater view?

ps. these are WTV files recorded by WMC

Oops.  I thought you were talking about shows recorded inside MC.

If WMC saves the info in the file, and we are not getting it, I will need to revisit how these files are analyzed.

Just taking a quick look at a wtv file with the Edit DVR-MS program, the following fields are available:

WM/MediaOriginalChannel: 56
WM/MediaStationCallSign: WLVIHD
WM/MediaStationName: WLVI HDTV

Also, rather than sticking the channel number into the artist tag, wouldn't it make sense to use a new tag with an appropriate name?

Thanks.  That definitely helps.

It was a legacy decision back when TV channels were not database entries.  For shows recorded inside MC, you can also use TVInfo(Channel) to get the info.

Exactly where would I "use TVInfo(Channel)" ? Specifically for theater view.

Sorry, I was talking about Standard view.  In standard view, you can add a "Expression column" views, using this expression: =TVInfo(Channel)

I will have to do some code modification for this info to be displayed in Theater view.
