Importing media, are existing local files merely indexed?
« on: December 17, 2015, 04:49:04 pm »

Hello.

New user and I can't find the answer to this. Once I load MC 21 for Windows, and have it scan my local media (approximately 21 GB of audio/video  housed on a NAS drive), does the program actually make a copy of files that it imports, or is it merely indexing where my existing files are located?

Thanks,

We don't make a copy at all.  That would be huge!

The program just imports the information into the "library."

Matt:

Thanks for the reply and that's what I had hoped the answer would be. I was just concerned that "Importing" into JRiver meant "Making a new copy of existing files in JRiver".
